Services
Telepsychiatry: All of our sessions will be held remotely, using HIPAA-compliant virtual platforms.
Initial Evaluation, also called psychiatric evaluation: Prior to establishing a therapeutic relationship, we will explore your past psychiatric, medical, family and social history. We will explore your habits, like exercise, diet, and sleep patterns, including any history of substance use. This information is vital, not only to determine if I am the right fit to treat your symptoms, but also to start building and tailoring your future treatment plan.
Completing an initial evaluation is not a guarantee of future treatment.
Individual treatment: Once we have decided that we will establish a therapeutic relationship, we will sign a telepsychiatry treatment contract and an attendance contract. During the following sessions we will continue to explore your stressors and design a specific treatment plan. We will decide the frequency of our sessions, and discuss the treatment options, including medications, and the possible addition of more intensive psychotherapeutic interventions.
Medication management: Medication management is the foundation of my practice. We will explore multiple psychopharmacological options to address your current symptoms, aiming to achieve a reduction in your overall stress-related burden.
Note: Given that my practice is exclusively virtual, I do not prescribe any controlled substances such as stimulants, narcotics, or sedatives (benzodiazepines), you can see a full list of those controlled substances on the DEA webpage here.
Psychotherapy: When needed, I will use a flexible approach to therapy, combining useful techniques from cognitive behavioral, interpersonal and supportive therapy, as well as motivational interviewing.
Important Disclaimer: Some conditions may require a higher level of treatment than what I can safely provide using tele-psychiatry. These conditions include:
Persistent and active thoughts of harming yourself or others.
Alcohol or substance use disorders.
Eating disorders including binging, purging or anorexia.
Severe personality disorders such as borderline, antisocial, or narcissistic personality disorders.
Based on my clinical judgement, during my initial screening process, I might identify other severe conditions which will not be appropriate to treat in my tele-psychiatry practice.
